Simply. Inspired. Home.

We all need a heavy dose of simplicity in our chaotic lives.  It’s Overflowing is a lifestyle blog that was founded in 2008 by Aimee Lane.  She uses her cozy spot on the web to share inspiration for creating a simply. inspired. home.  On the blog you will find a collection of house tours, photography tutorials, organization tips, diy projects, fabulous shopping finds and room makeovers.

Aimee and Lonnie have been happily married for fifteen years.  She affectionately and appropriately calls him Stud.  He is the muscle behind every room makeover and his woodworking skills are quite impressive!  Together they have three children, Bennett (8), Belle (12) and Brady (10).  Their boys are all about baseball and their daughter is all about dance!

Life is busy!  It is common to scurry around looking for something we’ve lost, to find ourselves infuriated by the smallest thing or to wake up still feeling tired.  As a mother, Aimee finds the focus of her heart is often mirrored in the voice of her family.  John 7:38 says, ‘If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from their heart.’  This is her favorite verse because it is a constant reminder that as she keeps her eyes focused on Jesus and spends time reading her Bible, regardless of her circumstances, her soul will overflow with peace, joy and love.  Her favorite antidotes for busyness are keeping a clutter-free home and making travel a priority!

Sometimes she’ll share a product just because she loves it.  Sometimes she is given a product to review, she promises to tell you the truth. Sometimes she gets paid, but only because she trusts what she’s sharing.  Below are a few of Aimee’s favorite business collaborations.

Hi Aimee! I have stumbled onto your blog and I just want to thank you for your wonderful photography lessons and tips! I went through them all and they have definitely helped me a lot. I cannot wait to fiddle with my camera and take shots to test aperture, ISO, shutter speed and metering. You are like a hipper Martha Stewart!

  3. Quincy says:

Good post. I learn something totally new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon every day.
It’s always helpful to read content from other writers and use something from their web sites.

  4. I love the beautiful pillow! Did you make it or sell it? Buy It?

  5. Kate says:

Aimee- could you find out what window vender your friend Sarah used in her house? From this post:

    • Aimee says:

Hi Kate! I hope you’re having a good week. I heard back from Sarah. They used Craig Morrow with Window Craft. Here’s the number, 214.662.5807. They were happy with their service. I’m excited for your house update!!! XO, Aimee

  6. Linda Long says:

I love so many of the ideas here. Can you direct your viewers to where the furniture is available from?

  7. Beth Tanner says:

I love gray also n will be buying another house soon, down sizing. I’ve been looking at gray color schemes. I love your Grey Owl. What paint brand is it? Behr at HD? What do you mean by cutting the paint by 50%?

    • Aimee says:

Hi Beth! I actually LOVE Sherwin Williams paint so it is SW’s paint that is color matched from Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl (Sherwin Williams gets so many requests for the color combo is actually stored in their computer). Cutting the paint by 50% helps me to lighten the intensity for the rooms in my house that don’t have as much natural light. XO, Aimee

  8. Eileen Lustig says:

    Love it

  9. Barbara says:

We are in the process of redoing my 13 yr ol daughters room. I love the flower light you have on the white ceiling fan. Is that from IKEA? Did u change the lighting on an existing fan?

  13. susanne says:

I organized…meaning cleaned out…the toys in the playroom today. I have been procrastinating putting labels on my bins because I wasn’t sure what I wanted. I spent a good bit of time on pinterest searching and came across you! I have the itso bins from target as well. Mine are older and the creme color. But I do love how they fit in the expedit shelves!! After using this for a while does the Velcro still stick? I had stuck clear pockets on the bins and printed words and pics to go in them. It looked great for a week and then as soon as we opened the windows for spring air, the humidity made them all fall off. I don’t want that to happen if I invest in Velcro! Thanks! Susanne

    • Aimee says:

I haven’t had any trouble with the Velcro losing it’s stick. Cheers for organized playrooms!!! XO, Aimee

Holy cow I just found your blog. AMAZING! I’m addicted. I am a mom of 3 sweet and spunky little girls (Club Estrogen) and I am not a computer person nor web surfer however, I love all the home pictures and organizing ideas. I could go on and on…. I am inquiring about those amazing jars with the colored lids and animals on the top. Where do you get the supplies for those? Are the lids spray painted? I love those and need to try to create them. I would love some help. Thank you!! Paula

    • Aimee says:

You are so sweet Paula! Thanks for your sweet words!!! I love those too. There should be a link with a tutorial under the picture if you need more info, but yes…those little animals glued on top of the jar and a couple coats of spray paint! Have a blast looking around Paula!!! XO, Aimee

  17. Magda says:

FYI, I was just on Etsy and found this seller using your picture.

    • Aimee says:

  20. Hi, Aimee. I’m a new follower to your blog. It’s a stunningly beautiful blog and very inspiring to an amateur blogger {like myself}. You have so many great posts and photos…I feel like I could spend hours “here”!!! I look forward to continuing to read and follow.

  21. Nelson Early says:

I really enjoy everything about your blog, particularly your Photography Tutorials. They are thorough, but understandable, and are common sense. I tried to print one off, but the entire 54 page blog printed. Is there away i can print each session off without printing the entire blog…or can I purchase copies from you????? Please advise, or give me an e-mail whereyou can respond more easily. Keep up the GREAT blog….

    • Aimee says:

You have totally hit a hot spot! I’m asked for the tutorials over and over and need to sit my little self down and make an easy to access ebook! Look for this to be published the beginning of next year!!! (I’ve put it in writing so I’m held to it now, right). 🙂 XO, Aimee

  22. Shell says:

    HI Aimee,

First of all THANK YOU SO MUCH! I came across your photography tutorials on Pinterest and they are so helpful. I have read them all and really want more 🙂 I tried to email you directly, but it came back undeliverable, I have a question…I am thinking of purchasing a new lens. I have a Nikon D3100 and use the 50mm portrait lens and love it, my only problem is I don’t like that it doesn’t have a zoom in and out option. I am looking for a lens that preforms the same but has this option. I am a newborn photographer for Mom365, so I photograph the babies in the hospital and the company provides the equipment, the lens they have on the camera is the Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II LD Aspherical…..are you familiar with this one? I like the range of zoom on it, but not sure if there is something else you would suggest. Please let me know if you have a recommendation and if so, I will definitely order thru your links to amazon.

    • Aimee says:

Hi Shell, I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. Thanks for the sweet note of encouragement and appreciation. So nice of you. I will check my email link — oops! A newborn photographer for Mom365, that’s so great! Tamron makes great lenses, but I bet your 50mm gives you the best pics! Sadly, the 50mm portrait (and the 35mm portrait) are fixed lenses. I’ll mention your need to Stud and I’ll let you know if we think of another option! XO, Aimee

  23. Nic says:

    • Aimee says:

They were from Michaels! Crossing my fingers they’re still available!!! XO, AImee

  25. karen says:

I love the burlap printing idea. However we have tried four different printers and they all jam. What is the name of the printer you use? Is there a trick to it?

    • Aimee says:

We have an HP printer — I think 6600 series!?! I’m so sad it’s getting jammed on you. That stinks! XO, Aimee

  26. I also can’t find your email address. I would like to feature your Smart Cookie Mason Jar gift in a back to school teacher gift gallery I am working on for the website spoonful. It would use one photo with a link back to your site to get the idea. Is this ok?

Also could you email me at the email listed here! I would love to have you guest post over at Skip to my Lou!
